Meet the precious ingredients in our precious oils

Sometimes you have to go a little further to get the very best, and that’s exactly what we did for our Precious Essential Oil Blends. For those moments when you need something nice for no reason other than to feel great, only the purest, most potent oils will do. And we all need moments like that right now! We looked to the most sought-after oils on the planet to deliver that ‘just because’ feeling, and they’re precious for a reason - they pack some serious power. Meet some of the oils in the collection here.

Bergamot

Our bergamot oil comes from cold-expressing the peel of bergamot fruit, grown in Calabria in Italy. The oil is packed with the sunshine and freshness that make Mediterranean citrus so delicious, and the reason for its rarity is that it takes 100 fruits to produce 85g of essential oil. That’s a lot of little fruits! The producers we work with are 100% zero waste and trained in sustainability, which is super important given the high demand for this hero oil. For an uplifting burst of fresh fragrance, it really is unbeatable, which is why you’ll see it in so many fragrances and blends, and scent-wise it’s wonderfully balancing against sweeter notes.

Vetivert

Good things come to those who wait for vetivert… this grass is grown in Haiti and the oil is cultivated slowly and deliberately to give the most potent properties. The grass roots must be one and a half to two years old before the distillation process begins, and then the extracted oil only gets better with ageing. It’s a grass so the aroma is earthy and woody yet floral, and just like a deep breath of fresh air on a summer’s day, it’s great for clearing the mind and helping you feel fresh and good to go.

Sandalwood

If you love a woody fragrance you’ll be familiar with sandalwood already, but what you might not know is that it’s one of the MOST expensive woods in the world. That’s all down to its popularity in fine furniture, and its rich, woody oil. We source ours from New Caledonia where the sandalwood population is heavily protected from overharvesting, because it takes around 15 years for a tree to produce a great oil and then only gets better with age, so demand is super high. The wait is worth it though, as it provides a long-lasting woody base in fragrances, and it’s incredibly calming too.

Tuberose

A heady floral scent and a pretty white bloom have made tuberose popular for centuries, in all four corners of the world. It thrives in warmer climes and its deeply rich floral scent is so transporting, taking you instantly to a honeyed garden. It was even apparently used by Marie Antoinette in her favourite perfume. Our tuberose is sourced in India where the flowers are often used in garlands and decorations, and the oil is celebrated for its connection to the root chakra and its grounding, anxiety-dispelling properties.

Mimosa

Nope not the cocktail, but rather its namesake, the bright yellow fluffy mimosa flowers grown in India. Its sweet, honey-like aroma is balanced by a floral freshness, which makes it super popular in fragrance, and you can’t help but feel a harmony and contentment as its rich, heady aroma scents your space.

Geranium

Not quite the variety you’ll see in a UK garden, our geranium oil is sourced from the world’s largest producer, China. The oil is harvested from the tiny hairs you see on the leaves of the geranium plant, so next time you see one take a closer look. The aroma is sweet, leafy and fresh, transporting you to a light, happy place (perhaps that secret summer garden) when used in fragrance.
